What will you do when trucks stop?
Today diesel prices are close to $5.00 per gallon, a new semi tractor truck costs in excess of $200,000.00, and if you have not noticed a few of the roads and bridges in America are falling apart at best, not drivable at worse. We are living in a time where the large retailers carry “just in time” inventory, while generally the American population follows that same philosophy in their kitchens, with weekly or not daily trips to the grocery store.
What will you do when trucks stop?
The following is an excerpt from a report put out by the American Trucker Associations entitled “When Trucks Stop, America Stops“….
*****
A Timeline Showing the Deterioration of Major Industries Following a Truck Stoppage
• Delivery of medical supplies to the affected area will cease.
• Hospitals will run out of basic supplies such as syringes and catheters within hours. Radiopharmaceuticals will deteriorate and become unusable.
• Service stations will begin to run out of fuel.
• Manufacturers using just-in-time manufacturing will develop component shortages.
• U.S. mail and other package delivery will cease.
Within one day
• Food shortages will begin to develop.
• Automobile fuel availability and delivery will dwindle, leading to skyrocketing prices and long lines at the gas pumps.
• Without manufacturing components and trucks for product delivery,
assembly lines will shut down, putting thousands out of work.
Within two to three days
• Food shortages will escalate, especially in the face of hoarding and consumer panic.
• Supplies of essentials—such as bottled water, powdered milk, and
canned meat—at major retailers will disappear.
• ATMs will run out of cash and banks will be unable to process
transactions.
• Service stations will completely run out of fuel for autos and trucks.
• Garbage will start piling up in urban and suburban areas.
• Container ships will sit idle in ports and rail transport will be disrupted, eventually coming to a standstill.
Within a week
• Automobile travel will cease due to the lack of fuel. Without autos and busses, many people will not be able to get to work, shop for groceries, or access medical care.
• Hospitals will begin to exhaust oxygen supplies.
Within two weeks
• The nation’s clean water supply will begin to run dry.
Within four weeks
• The nation will exhaust its clean water supply and water will be safe for drinking only after boiling. As a result gastrointestinal illnesses will increase, further taxing an already weakened health care system.

Now this analysis only takes into account trucks stopping, not any other system failures that may take place with trucks stopping such as a power grid collapse.
What could cause a trucking stop in America.
- Electromagnetic Pulse
- Internet Virus
- General Strike
- Roadblock’s and Searches
- Earthquakes
- Depletion of Drivers
- Cost of Equipment
- Cost of Diesel
- Roadway deterioration
- I am sure you can think of others.
What will you do when trucks stop? Perhaps the first question you should ask is do you believe that they could stop?
Most survivalists including me will quite simply tell you, our country with a big enough emergency or collapse is sitting at panic in one day, food and water shortages in four, with anarchy in one to two weeks. Maybe this week would be a good week to store up a bit on dehydrated food and water.

First thing here Chris, Diesel isn't almost $5.00 a gallon in most of the US. The only place I have seen it above $4.30 west of the Mississippi is in California.
Second, trucks will never stop because there are fuel surcharges kicking in helping to reduce the cost to the owner operator or the companies.
Third, a new truck will run about $110,000 to $140,000 depending on the way it is spec'ed out and the manufacturer. Most of the trucks over $140,000 have creature comforts that the companies will not put into a truck. These are reserved basically for the owner operators or very small fleets.
Your analysis by the ATA is quite old and has been refuted and debunked. Here's why…
Most of the drivers working for companies will never strike because they are threatened with termination and/or they cannot afford to shut down. For the Owner Operators, a lot of them owe a lot of money and cannot afford to shut down.
Most of the trucking companies that supply fuel, oxygen, medical supplies, etc. are under contract with the businesses they work with. If they were to shut down, they would be in direct violation of their contracts and would lose a ton of money.
The usage of Just In Time freight has been around since the late 80's as a way for manufacturers to save money in taxes by not having too much inventory sitting in their factories.
I worked for Ryder Logistics and Penske Logistics for many years with the Whirlpool Corporation. To avoid paying tons of taxes, they clear out the warehouses by offering special deals to the dealers and they put the remaining stock into trailers and take them off site. They, along with many other companies specialize in "JIT" freight and it is quite effective.
As far as food stocks being interrupted, this is another area that the likelihood of interruption is slim to none as the large reefer carriers are also under contract with the food producers to haul the freight.
Being prepared for social meltdown and natural catastrophic events on a temporary (meaning days, not weeks or months) is a good thing to do, but worrying about a national interruption in food, fuel and medical supplies is really going to the extreme. I have been trucking for over 23 years and I have been hearing about this stuff even longer.
I remember the Y2K scare and the only thing that happened was a lot of people were duped into buying stuff they didn't need. Common sense will rule the day every time and paranoia will cause unnecessary panic!
Sure, our gov't is as corrupt as the day is long, but losing our minds worrying about things that will more than likely never happen will not make things better. If anyone that reads this truly wants to prepare and do something, start by becoming well informed about those who wish to serve you and replace the corrupt ones that are serving themselves!
When fuel runs out, the air will be cleaner, Polar Bears will no longer be endangered…as a matter of fact nature will be soooo clean exstinct animals will return tio life…which includes the dinosaurs…of course,…that might be bad…hmmm…maybe they should start drilling more and stop screwing around with the free market.
Thanks Murry, Keep Trucking my friend..
Diesal hit 5.00 in CT a few weeks ago , now down to 4.93 …i can see the gas/diesel prices from my sisters window
