The county fair……$480.00 lighter…..Priceless

The county fair……$480.00 lighter…..Priceless

Oh, how could I forget – corn dogs, funnel cakes, cotton candy and, yes, a few rides.  What could be more American than taking your family to the county fair?  I remember growing up in Ohio that every August in Sandusky County my home town of Fremont was the host city.  The fair was usually the last big event before the start of the new school year.  It also meant the end of summer vacation.  … Read entire article »

The future is much closer than you think

The future is much closer than you think

As I un-zipped my tent a cold blast of air hit my face.  The sun was shinning, the air was crisp, and smelled of morning dew.  I looked over at 10 other tents; no one else was up yet.  I was so sore; it is just hard sleeping on an air mattress compared to my old nice comfy bed.  I walked over to our “communication hub”.  It consisted of a short wave radio, transmitter, four … Read entire article »

What is a Patriot?

What is a Patriot?

I have been in quiet reflection this week as a question has sat in the back of mind: What is a Patriot? It is sitting there due to some converstaions I have had with team members.  It is there because I am reading a book with a title reflecting that question, and I watched a movie with Mel Gibson, who played the role of one.  However in the book, movie, and conversation the vision in … Read entire article »

The Economic Collapse Continues……

The Economic Collapse Continues……

Faith & Survival’s Definition of an Economic Collapse  A complete breakdown of the United States of America’s economic system, in which trust in the dollar and the political structure being able to fix the breakdown no longer exists.  Measurements to indicate the collapse exists will not be government based because the bureaucracy will do everything in it’s power to deceive the people into believing that the economy is fine, to keep their own jobs and power. … Read entire article »

Just blow it away……

Just blow it away……

Today as I drove down the road I watched a familiar scene.  Someone had a blower mounted on their back, and was blowing the papers, leaves, trash and cut grass.  I watched as he performed his job, blowing everything that he thought needed to be blown off of one property and depositing it onto someone else’s property.  I have watched that happen for years, never thinking about this simple point.  “Why do we allow people to blow their … Read entire article »

Self Reliance comes in many forms….

Self Reliance comes in many forms….

Growing your own food.  Seems as though this would be something that all of us would do.  Every time you eat food that you grow in your own garden equals less money you spend on groceries.  Your own tomatoes have not been radiated, genetically modified, or fertilized by who knows what.  When you eat chips and salsa it tastes ten times better when all the ingredients to make that salsa came from your own labor.  However, it seems … Read entire article »

Fukushima Today, Meltdowns, and a Ring of Death

90 days ago a 9.0 earthquake rocked Japan.  Thousands of people lost their lives from this natural disaster.  However the man-made disaster called the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant meltdown will end up being far more costly in terms of lost life and human suffering, for weeks, months, years,  and decades to come. Lets start with the obvious a news cover up. Nuclear meltdowns began in THREE nuclear reactors within 4 hours of the earthquake.  88 days later this … Read entire article »

Let the truth be heard..but where are you?

Let the truth be heard..but where are you?

June 7th 2011 brought another Pleasanton City Council Meeting.  I was able to speak at two moments.  The link below is the video of the meeting.  I spoke at minute 24, and at the 1 hour 14 minute mark. http://pleasantonca.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=321 I was happy with my presentation, and then my follow up conversation on the economy as it related to the city doing a budget workshop.  But this posting is not meant to toot my horn.  It is … Read entire article »

We all have our own mountain to climb

We all have our own mountain to climb

Sometimes I like to be inspirational. Attempt to approach our difficult lives and look for a way to put a small glimmer of hope into the moment. Today I hiked up Mission Peak in Fremont California.  It is one of the largest mountains in the Bay Area.  It soars to a height of 2400 feet, and can be seen from miles around.  It is one of those landmarks that is used to help guide people…start heading over … Read entire article »

God’s Plan…a couple days, 6000 foot elevation, a pen, and paper

God’s Plan…a couple days, 6000 foot elevation, a pen, and paper

Every time I come back from time in the wilderness I ask myself the same question.  We advanced into the modern age because?  If I ask that question of others I often get the responses of, ‘technological advances have made our lives easier and with greater meaning’.  ‘Wealth has allowed us to purchase homes, cars, clothing that otherwise we would not have’.  I say to all those answers…hogwash! Over the past few days I drove away … Read entire article »
