CNN has spent time today asking the american people this question..
“Why are people attacking the first lady Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity compaign”.
Answer below….God help us when our major news media has to even ask the question.
Government is not the answer to America’s obesity probem…Government is the problem.

On Tuesday, the office of First Lady Michelle Obama sponsored several conference calls featuring administration officials discussing Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign to combat childhood obesity but “with listen-only lines for the media,” according to The Washington Daybook. On Wednesday, Mrs. Obama personally conducted a conference call for “online media” that was “by invitation only,” according to the Daybook.
Traditionally, conference calls that public figures in Washington, D.C. hold for the media–which, obviously, are designed to get media attention for the public figure–allow the reporters who join the call to ask at least a few questions.
I like to start my articles usually by defining the problem, situation, or topic that I am discussing. However, this one I am hesitant on, because I believe most people understand the gravity of the problem. But do you really? I have a solution at the end, if your blood doesn’t boil out of your veins before you get there.
Most Americans are fat, lazy, obese, full of sloth and gluttony. The majority consider a good night out as going to Hometown Buffet, Sizzler, Sweet Tomatoes, or other all you can eat buffets. Putting down $11.99 to consume as many calories as one can in one hour. They sit patiently in line, looking at everyone else who already got in, mouths watering as they see their plates full of meat, potatoes, bread, sweets, and the occasional piece of broccoli. Who has time to be seated other than placing your bookmark on your table that soon you will sit at and devour about 5000 calories. You battle for place in line to get your macaroni and cheese, that slab of “meat”, or the endless soft serve ice cream machine with chocolate and strawberry sauce. Soon an incredible feeling of “ahhhhh” overcomes you as your body starts to process your stomachs contents, and a rush of dopamine is released into your brain. Everything is alright with the world….for about 15 minutes.
How did we get this way?
Why is this considered a fun night out with the family, passing our obesity on to the next generation?
What will we do when inflation runs the price of food so high that we can no longer do this to ourselves?
Well, I could go on for thousands of words on the moral decay of our society. How TV has brainwashed us into zombies. We are all just supposed to let everyone do what they want to do and not criticize or judge. Being an American today is stressful, if I can’t get my release from food, alcohol, or drugs,(prescription or illegal), then how can I ever have fun and enjoy life.
Wait, I know the answer, let’s come up with reality TV shows showing obese Americans trying to lose weight. We will have pictures of them in tank tops and spandex shorts. These shows will have fitness trainers whom will work with these fat folks and get them to be in shape. Let’s include a counselor or two as well because of course this is something that can be fixed by a shrink not a priest. We will do weekly weigh in’s to chart there progress and reward the winners with cupcakes or pizza slices. Should we a year later after they lose all the weight go back and maybe see if they have kept it off?….No No NOOOO, that is not what we are selling here…It is about showing Americans how fat they are, not that they can get in real shape for life.
NO…..Wait, Wait, Wait I have GOT SOMETHING BETTER!!!! Let’s have the first lady do something during her four years in office…I know we have her become the OBESE CZAR. Her job will be to plant a vegetable garden in the White House lawn. She will go on a speaking tour across our schools talking about how important it is to eat your fruits and avoid that evil hamburger and pizza that the schools serve. If that doesn’t do it then with the help of congress she will push legislation to force changes in our diet, that of course she KNOWS BEST. Yes of course, then we will come up with the FOOD POLICE..(it is a branch of the GREEN POLICE). They will be allowed to fine and arrest those that are not eating proper foods. Of course this is a national emergency so we must give them the power to search your home without a warrant. If you are caught with “non approved” food or drinks, you will be arrested, and sent to food prison, where hard labor awaits you to help “get you back in shape for the health of our nation”.
Do you think I am kidding? Far from it my friends. I challenge everyone of you to read the details of SB510, (“the food safety bill”), which has passed congress and your president has enacted into law. I challenge you to read you states legislation that has been passed this year. Most states have passed laws starting to ban soda, restiricting fast food, trans fat frying, etc…etc…How are those laws and regulations going to be monitored and policed? Our friends at the FDA. or EPA, or whatever government agency has time will gladly coordinate with the local and state policing authorities including child protective services to ensure compliance.
What about the health care bill….yes of course…how about denying coverage to those whom are over a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30, or those that eat at McDonald’s more than once a week, or eat from there own gardens, (because there own food must be contaminated it is not grow by Monsanto). When you visit your doctor for a check up we will make doctor’s measure your body fat percentage, place it in public records for all to see and develop a web page ranking the fattest Americans. Yes, shaming you to death may just be the best idea ever!
Everyone, I am no picture of perfect health over my life. I have struggled with my weight since college. My scale has gone from 215 to 250lbs. Right now it is at 220lbs, at 6 foot 4 inches I am happy with that weight, and have worked very hard to stay in shape into my fourties. It is my experience that the following worked for me:
- Placing God as the priority in my life daily
- Re-newing my mind to live in the spirit not in the flesh
- Eating five small meals a day, and nothing after 7pm
- Working out 6 days a week, early in the morning
- Going on either a 7 mile jog or wilderness hike once a week
- Weighing myself once a week on the same day and time.
- Not eating any fast food, and going out to eat only twice a month, (no buffets)
We are facing very difficult times ahead of us, I strongly recommend to everyone, let’s get physically fit. Not with the help of our government because they tell us to, but because it is the right thing to do.
